What You’ll Do:
As our Director of Product Safety for Crop Protection, you’ll play a crucial role in supporting the registration and defense of our current, developing and newly acquired pesticide products in the U.S., Canada, Asia/the Pacific, Latin America, Europe and Africa. Responsibilities will include leading data generation, interpretation and communication of required studies and safety assessments for selected conventional and biological pesticide products. This role is a cornerstone of our strategic approach to maintaining global pesticide product registrations.
You’ll interact with internal stakeholders, including our acquisitions, sales and development teams, as well as external business partners and state, provincial and federal regulatory authorities.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Regulatory defense of the company’s active ingredients and end-use products in the U.S. and around the world.
- Leading and managing select product safety data generation. e.g. toxicology, ecotoxicology, analytical chemistry, human or environmental effects and exposure, Endangered Species Act assessments, environmental fate, and/or other technical programs. You will have opportunities to acquire experience in areas of product safety beyond your current expertise.
- Providing analysis and expertise in pesticide registration matters.
- Developing and implementing domestic and global registration strategies.
- Preparing FIFRA dossiers for pesticide submissions.
- Supporting dossier preparation for international submissions with support from in-country experts.
- Representing our company on task forces and industry consortia (pesticide product task forces, CropLife America, etc.).
- Attending professional society meetings and conferences to maintain current state-of-the-science knowledge for pesticide registration and risk assessment.
- Playing a key role in expanding the uses and registrations for our products.
- Monitoring and analyzing developing regulations and regulatory trends.
Profile
Who You Are:
- The ideal candidate will have one of the following:
- A Ph.D. in toxicology, chemistry, ecotoxicology, environmental fate or another relevant technical area, and 5+ years of practical experience in the agrochemical industry.
- An MS degree with 8+ years of experience.
- A BS degree with 10+ years of experience.
- Experience with data generation with conventional pesticides for use in environmental or human exposure or risk assessments.
- Proficient in your knowledge of EPA FIFRA pesticide registration requirements and strategies.
- You have negotiated with federal agencies that regulate pesticides.
- You have provided technical review and input on Federal and State pesticide registration projects.
- Strong technical writing and editing skills.
- You’re a problem-solver with excellent communication skills and adept at analyzing complex challenges regarding pesticide product safety or registration.
- You’re comfortable juggling multiple tasks and can work independently and as a team.
- Ability to travel to scientific and trade association conferences, and meetings with regulatory authorities (~10%).
