Job description

The purpose of this position is to perform testing for environmental compliance of our waste water system. The Environmental Lab Tech may also assist in the quality control labs by making media, organizing, or compositing samples of gelatin or hydrolyzed gelatin protein. 

Key Accountabilities: 

• Perform daily total and filtered chemical oxygen demand (COD) and total suspended solid (TSS) and other relevant daily testing on all relevant samples
• Perform daily fats, oils, and grease (FOG) and sulphate (SO4) testing on acid soak and surge tank samples.
• Collect and perform weekly alkalinity testing on external samples
• Sample preparation and shipping
• Other tasks as assigned
• Perform audit functions in one of the following areas: Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and ISO internal auditing.
• Assist Laboratory with media, compositing, equipment maintenance, and calibrations as assigned.

Profile

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in environmental biology, chemistry, biology, microbiology, or related field with applicable laboratory class work with 1 to 3 years experience.
